About Apollopony

We Will Talk You Out of Booking

Apollopony works on garage doors across Long Beach from a shop on Cherry Ave in the 90808 ZIP. We do the tension work, the springs and cables and brackets, and we do it every day.

We also spend a fair part of the week telling people on the phone that they do not need us. That is deliberate, and it is the thing this company is actually built around.

Why We Give the Easy Jobs Away

A garage door has a lot of parts, and most of them are inert. A bottom seal, a nylon roller on a middle section, a hinge, a photo eye bracket, a remote battery, the opener memory. None of that is holding any load. A homeowner with a socket set and half an hour can handle every one of those, and there is no reason to pay somebody a call-out fee to do it.

If we charged for that work we would be taking money for something you could do yourself in less time than it takes us to drive there. So we tell you what to buy and how to do it, and we hang up.

The Line We Will Not Cross With You

Three parts on a residential door are different in kind, not in difficulty. The torsion springs, the lift cables and the bottom brackets are the parts that hold back stored energy. A torsion spring on a closed door sits at seven to nine turns of wind, holding back enough force to raise the entire door on its own.

That energy does not leak out slowly if you make a mistake. It comes out all at once, through whatever is in the way. It is why the injury reports on garage doors are so consistently springs and bottom brackets and so rarely anything else.

So we do not coach anybody through those, not over the phone, not with photos, not for free and not for money. If a spring, a cable or a bottom bracket is in the job, we come out.

What That Looks Like on a Call

You ring, you describe what the door is doing, and we tell you which side of the line it is on. Door reversing halfway? Usually a sensor alignment you can fix in ten minutes. Door screaming on the way up? Usually four years without lubrication. Door will not lift and there is a gap in the spring above it? That one is ours, and we will be out.

We work Long Beach, Lakewood, Signal Hill, Bellflower, Cerritos and Seal Beach. Every opener we touch gets both safety reversal systems tested before we leave, which UL 325 has required since 1993, and every California opener we replace goes in with the battery backup that SB-969 has required on new installs since July 2019.
